The traffic signals are in place, but it may take until the end of the month before intersection improvements at Shower Drive and Highway 130 in Puna are complete.
Shelly Kunishige, state Department of Transportation spokeswoman, said in an email that the work is anticipated to be done by February. Most recently, the nearly $4 million project was expected to be done by the new year.
Kunishige said there were delays regarding delivery of the traffic poles and weather.
Meanwhile, restriping of the highway between mile markers 2 and 4 should be done in two weeks, she said.
That work will provide four travel lanes around the clock along that stretch.
